Startlingly strong for a directorial debut, Talk To Me is the kind of rare horror movie that heightens the senses long after walking out of the cinema. Narratively, it’s fairly streamlined - perhaps even conventional - but the emotional stakes are amped up to borderline unstable territory in a story fraught with complicated decisions. A perfect marrying of the supernatural to the deeply intimate, revealing of a directing duo who aimed extremely high and stuck the landing exceptionally. I might be a particularly easy sell for this brand of thematically dense horror, but given the critical acclaim it’s received, I’m happy recommending this to everyone as a horror film that may well go down as one of the best of the decade. I’ll be looking out for Strap in, it’s one hell of a ride.
