The way Taylor Swift commands an audience needs to be studied. Even through an IMAX screen her charisma shines through. Any attempt to resist getting swallowed by the glitz and glamour of her performance is completely futile. ‘Illicit Affairs’ was the standout for me. The visceral intensity that Swift adds to the song for the live version was truly a sight to behold. She has the presence and skills as a performer to absolutely kill it on the rock stage. I hope at some point we get to see that side of her on record. It’s a shame about the amount of songs that were cut (especially from Evermore), but every era is still well accounted for, and the acoustic set that featured ‘Our Song’ and ‘You’re On Your Own Kid’ right before Midnights was absolutely inspired. What a show. What a performer. What a songwriter. What a movie. Simply exceptional.
